Charlotte - Class of 2021
My first Senior Session of 2020! I was so nervous but so excited for this session. To say my jaw dropped when this lovely lady got out of the car would be an understatement! Charlotte picked out one of my favorite locations I had scouted during the year, Nakashima Heritage Barn. This is part of the Centennial Trail and is incredibly well maintained.
Charlotte chose to do my Standard Senior package which included one location, 2-3 outfits and a private preview gallery with 30 final digital downloads. Before the session she told me that she loved dogs, playing soccer and being outdoors so the barn was a perfect fit for her and her free spirit. Our session was filled with lots of walking, laughs and light that filled the valley.
One interesting part about this location is that the sun sets earlier than what “golden hour” would suggest because it is located at the bottom of a valley. That being said, the valley surrounding the grass fields, evergreen trees and barn makes for a beautiful backdrop.
For this session I was using my Canon 5d Mk IV with a Canon 50mm f1.4 lens. I usually keep my f-stop around 1.8-2.0 to make sure that every part of my beautiful subject's face stays in focus while I use the sun as a backlight. Capturing lots of natural smiles, laughs, twirls and hair fixes is what I love most about senior sessions. I love making each person feel natural, comfortable and confident in front of the camera.
